Bits 'N Pieces

Glory Days

This is me next to my old locker at good old Cedar High School; yes- I remember which one it was, and even if I did forget, I etched my name inside with the end of a paper clip. Man I was so awesome!! lol I also scratched my initials KD #11 on the announcement board by the front office during my Junior year, and it was still there!! That cracked me up. Man I never realized I was such a vandal. Guess I had to make my mark on that school in my own little way.

Reunited
Last week I had my 10 year high school reunion; It was fun to go and see some familiar faces I had not seen in well, about 10 years! My very closest friends I hung out with in high school, none of them showed up, but I did see some good friends I hung out with while I was going to S.U.U. before I moved away to nursing school. It's funny how in high school your friends are so important to you, and you think you will be friends forever, then you graduate, and you all kinda go your separate ways. I never even hear from (or about) my best friends in high school. The friends I have made since have been the lasting friendships. But we had a good time there, it was fun to see all my old classmates and their husbands and wives and kids. Go Class of '97!!

"Auntie Mel"

Mel met us in SLC last week for a nice lunch visit- it was good to see her again and she got to meet little Allie! (Sorry we missed you Melissa!) It was even nicer when her sister-in-law's flight got delayed (Mel was supposed to pick her up) and we got to spend twice as much time chatting and even got to go to the park and for ice cream! It was nice hanging out in person, even though we have managed to stay in touch via internet since we moved away from NYC, it is always nicer to have the real thing. I really miss hanging out with the Smiths, her and Mark were the best to hang out with and play games with and stuff (especially Trivia games of any sort- they will certainly give you a run for your money!) Plus, Mel was my only link to the mysterious world that is called Canada. "Must be a canadian thing, right?" Sound familiar, Mel?

Heirlooms
This was my dress and patent leather mary janes that I wore when I was a baby. I was going through my cedar chest the other day looking for my old high school yearbook (I wanted to do some reminiscing before the reunion) and came across it. I'm glad I did, before Allie got too big to try it on her. Although the dress is kinda dorky in my opinion (were clothes with little stuffed lambs sewn into them EVER in style?) I love so much that the mary janes are just as cute now as they were in 1979, and the fact that I got to put something that I once wore on my own daughter was very cool. I sent some pictures to my mom and of course, she loved them!

I hate to point out that many other Canadians have crossed your path, but I am glad to see that there is one that changed your mind about Canada. I remember you mentioning once that the only good thing that happens there is you MAY NOT freeze to death. Props to the Canadian friend...
