1)Marshall came home from work the other day and I was feeling like a loser because the house was a wreck, and I was wearing sweats, and I was just overall having a blah day. He walks in, oblivious to the mess (as usual) and smiles and says "hey, beautiful!" The last thing I would have expected to hear from anyone. A husband who requires little, and gives without expecting anything in return- that is a reason to be happy.
2)Wednesday we were getting back into the car after going to story time at the library, and as I was strapping Drew into his car seat, I must have been scowling, or grumbling about something, I can't remember what, but anyways, Drew looks up at me with the most innocent, sweet little face and says to me "Please be happy, mommy- you need to be happy." I could have cried. I am so lucky to have awesome kids to help me keep things in perspective.
3)My friend Michelle was finally able to bring her new (long and anxiously-awaited) baby boy home from the hospital after an emergency c-section and a few weeks in the NICU. He is the cutest and chubbiest baby ever, born weighing over 10 pounds! All appears to be well with everyone and I just love witnessing such obvious answers to prayers. Congratulations!
4)Allie cut her first two teeth this past week, rather "quick and painless," so to speak. Babies with two little bottom teeth are so cute. I can't believe how much she looks like her brother- I love it! I love seeing her grow and develop, and watching her little personality emerge each day. She has got to be the smiliest and happiest baby in town.
5)I am finally seeing a light at the end of the potty training tunnel- things seem to be going well, and since "hell week" (as I now refer to it) things have gotten better and better. Not perfect, but definitely do-able.
6)Dreyer's Girl Scout Cookie Thin Mint ice cream- it's seasonal, and its baaaack! One of my all-time faves. Dark chocolate ice cream chock full of crushed up thin mints. Yum. Along those same lines- got a call from the girl scout (whatever happened to going door to door? Kids these days...whatever.) Sign me up for some Samoas and Thin Mints- See you in March!
7)Today is Friday- and around our house, Friday night is family movie night! Nothing better than curling up on the couch with your loved ones and a big bowl of fresh popcorn, some treats, and a fun flick! I think tonight's selection will be Big Fish. Saw it in the theater a few years ago, can't remember how kid friendly it is, but since we borrowed it for free from the public library, chances are it will be so scratched it won't play anyway. We can always use Shrek or something else we own as a back up. Good times!
8)Hot towel/sweatshirt/blanket fresh from the dryer. What could be better than wrapping up in that on a freezing cold January night?
9)The aroma of beef stew in the Crock Pot mixed simultaneously with the aroma of fresh bread baking. What could be better than to cut off a crusty hunk of bread and smear it with butter. Mmmmm....nothing beats home cooking.
10)"Mommy, I am going to make you a present!" Drew says, as he takes his blanket, wraps up whatever hot item he happens to be playing with at the moment (usually trains or his BYU Cosmo stuffed cougar) and brings it over to me. About 6 times a day, I am showered with such gifts. What a lucky lady I am.

Want to come and make me some dinner? hot home made bread would be fab!!
Ummm, Marshall rocks (in reference to number 1). I don't know him very well but I just remember when he came to our BYU intramural game with a brown bag on his head and his stereo blasting "Eye of the Tiger". Love it.
I love Happy Friday! Great way to keep things in perspective! Love hearing about what you guys are up to since you're "so far" away (why does it seem that way?) - we miss you guys but are glad to see pics and hear what you're up to! :)
Hey!
I want your crockpot stew recipe, mmmkay?
I like the Happy Friday thing too, definitely a good way to count your blessings.
