Happy Friday

I decided I am going to try out something new...I think I'll call it Happy Friday. I decided I am going to try and write down 10 things (or as many things as I have time for) that I have thought of during the past week that have made me happy, and list them (in no particular order) because, hey- who doesn't need a few reasons to be happy?

#1- Taco Time has $.99 crisp bean burritos right now. Man I love those deep fried delights. Add a dab of hot sauce and 'ole!! Your mouth is ready for a fiesta. And don't even get me started on the cinnamon crustos!!

#2- My front loading washer and dryer. I have done laundry literally every day for the last two weeks (note my previous post about potty training) and I can't help thinking about how much harder things would be if I couldn't just cram all our messes in there and and hour later they magically come out clean, soft and smelling April fresh.

#3- Dr. Pepper. I am such a junkie. This fizzy nectar of the gods never fails to make me happy. I could write about this one every single week, but I'll just mention it this once. I switched to diet about 6 months ago, and although we had a rocky start to our relationship, we are now getting along famously. Love this stuff! (Yes, I am totally that Utah mom in the sweat pants at the Maverik filling up her huge mug. And I am secure with that. All I need now is my minivan, and I'll be set...)

#4- D.I. (For the un-privy folk, look it up.) I am not ashamed to admit that in my lifetime, I have bought plenty of clothes, and lots of other really useful stuff there. (Please don't judge me!) I remember when I was a kid and my mom would stop at the craft store (which happened to share a parking lot with DI) and I would literally crouch down and hide on the floor of the car so as to avoid even being seen standing outside DI, much less shopping there. Oh brother.) But now that I'm growed up, it is one of my fave places to shop. I think this is largely due to the fact that it is fairly non-committal shopping, and I am the poster child for buyers' remorse. Today I found me some good finds. I found a Lucky Brand skirt for $5 (sweet!) a black Banana Republic skirt for $5 (even sweeter) and I must say, I am a bit ashamed to admit this last one, since I used to draw the line on buying used shoes. This time I couldn't resist compromising my (apparently already low) standards. I found some black Steve Madden heels that looked like they had maybe been worn once, for $8. What the heck...I have a can of Lysol.

#5- Chocolate chip cookies. And especially mine (not to brag, but just ask anyone who knows me.) Just say the word, and the recipe is yours. (You probably already have it, you just don't know it yet-I'll tell you my secrets, if you're interested.)

#6- Almay Oil-Free Eye Makeup removers. I have been using these since I was old enough to wear makeup. I don't know how anyone would get makeup off without them.

#7- Both of my kids go down for their naps at around 2:30 every afternoon, and they both usually sleep for about 2-3 hours. Ahh...blessed ME time. Which brings us to #8 on my list...

#8- The Ellen Degeneres show. I love her comedy. Not many people can pull off what she does, being absolutely hysterically funny without ever being crude, or saying something my kids shouldn't hear, and without ever insulting others. It's usually much easier to mock other people and be crude to get a laugh, but she goes the long way by being funny doing neither. And I love that she never brings up the gay thing, cause I think that would bug me. The shows have struggled a bit lately due to the writer's strike, but she's still got me watching.

#9- My Aeropostale flare leg sweat pants with the stripe down the side. I bought them a few years ago on sale, and was thrilled since they were long length (and if you're tall like me, you know how hard it can be to find cute lounge pants in a long length.) They are the most comfy pants in the world. I can't wait to get home and take off whatever else I am wearing to put them on. Since they are getting worn out, I recently tried to go back to the store and online to get some more, but apparently only short people need comfy pants, since they discontinued the longer lengths. Anyone else know where else I could look for something like this?

#10- This guy: http://www.watchuonline.com/video/EHlHRHgsckk/American-Idol-We-re-Brothers-Forever-2008.html

Krista, your crisp bean burrito comment has Mark drooling, and crying because he hasn't had one in many, many years. I am guessing that will be our first stop next time we head out that way. Also, he is now curled up in a ball remembering the blessed Sundays filled with inappropriate Scattergories comments and mostly your cookies.

Guess I am going to need your chocolate chip cookie recipe. :) Also, I recent stepped into DI in Logan, it was brand new... and I was VERY impressed. Not the DI I grew up taking my crap to. It looked as if they had a lot of new things along side the used ones. There were even Seven jeans behind a glass case. Who knew?
