When I was a baby I had a blanket I loved and prized above any other earthly possession. (Ok lets face it, people- I slept with it until I was thirteen, okay? But don't make fun- at least I didn't take it to school with me...Oh but I probably would have if I thought I could get away with it.) I dubbed it "The Cold Night-Night." (don't ask.) Anyways, I still have what is left of this tattered piece of heaven folded lovingly in my cedar chest. Although to the naked eye it might not technically still be considered a blanket, I will carry its ripped fragments with me forever in my heart. It has always been my dream to make a replica for my own daughter, but since I literally barely know how to sew on a button, I thought it would never happen. But that's where Nana comes into play. I found a fabric store with the perfect green and pink gingham flannel fabric, and bought the stuff and brought it home (borrowed a sewing machine) and Nana and I set to work...

SO dear! That can be her warm night-night.
Look at you miss talented!
Looks like a great blanket! Good sewing job - now I can have you sew things for me! I am sure Allie will love it as much as you loved yours.
So great - it looks like Allie loves it already!
The time and effort to make the night-night was well worth it when I see these pictures. Way to go, Kaki!
I am so inspired by your skills and motivation! The new cold night night is beautiful, though I must say it may never live up to "zebra" and "deer" (was that the other one) that we always kept around the apt. at lennyville!
okay, i almost have the same story about my favorite blanket my mom made for me when i was born. and it looked almost just like that! except no pink, just green. you rock for passing on the old tradition. now just pray she won't be taking it to school with her when she's 13. nice work!
