Last night I worked (for those that don't know I am an RN and I work one night a week at UVRMC in Provo- I have worked on the Surgical floor there for the better part of 5 years, when I haven't been out of state) I love my job so much, and I feel so lucky to be able to be a full-time mom, but still get to do my "own thing" by working once a week doing something that I love, that is also very flexible. But today- I am tired-TIRED!! Let's just put it this way- I woke up yesterday morning at 5:30 a.m. (thank you, thunderstorm) and that was the last sleep that I have gotten. 30 hours and counting...ugh. I usually just work 6pm to midnight, but I decided to work the full 12 hr shift last night, (first time post-baby) so there you have it. Not even this can save me this time! I worked all night 12 hours, then I get to come home and be mom all day 12 hours. It's all good, though. I really just feel lucky to be able to work as much or as little as I want at a job I love, helping people get through a hard time in their lives, and working with some awesome people- some whom I have known for years. I love being a nurse. I have seen and done things that should NEVER be seen OR done. It's interesting, when I am at work, I put on my nurse hat (no we don't really wear those any more, but I wish we did-those were awesome!) and almost nothing grosses me out. (I can honestly say I have only gagged once at work, and it was TOTALLY justified... let's just say it involved an adult diaper, a plastic spoon, a specimen cup, and pregnant me in a tiny, sweltering bathroom in a hospital in NYC in August-'nuf said??) Then I leave work and step in some chewed gum on a hot day and it is all I can do to not toss my cookies right there in the Target parking lot. I know- retarded, huh? I love that I get a chance to help others be brave, and hopefully leave them a little better than how I found them- it doesn't always happen, but that is part of the reason why I love the challenge. But love it or not, one thing is for sure- I will be going to bed very early tonight.

Don't know how you do it... I would be tossing my cookies all over the place doing what you do!! That or napping in the supply closet! :o)
This all comes from breeding, you know. Good, high-bred breeding. The gagging thing comes from the paternal side. ( Sorry, no gene control there. ) But you must look to the positive. Cleaning crusty crotches, and not puking, definately comes from the Burns side of the family. Just thank your lucky pubes!!!
