Sleepy Head

Drew is getting to the age where naps can sometimes be optional. I usually try to give him an opportunity each day, but whether or not he takes that opportunity is hit-or-miss. Today, at home, was a miss. So I needed to do some grocery shopping, and so of course, during the 1 mile drive from our house to Wal-Mart, he conks out. He was just so sweet and I felt so sorry for him...
...so I put some blankets in the cart and laid him down in there.

I still gotta do what I came to do...but now where do I put the groceries?

People were either giving me funny looks, or saying "awwww" or making other random comments. It was a tad embarrassing carefully trying to stack up soup cans so they wouldn't topple over and knock him in the head. My biggest challenge was trying to find a place for my 6- pack of paper towels. (Gotta have 'em!) I was forced to forego the T.P, though- no room whatsoever. I think we have enough to last until next time. (I hope!!!)

Finally! He opens his eyes just when I have no more places to stack stuff. ( I even had to put some stuff in my purse-don't worry; I remembered to pay for it!) Me: "Bubba, want to wake up so I can put more food in the cart?" Drew: (shakes his head no and closes his eyes.) I am such a sucker, and he is just so cute, I let him get away with it.

I took this picture at the check-out line, just before he awakened and tried to sit up, as a mountain of cans, bottles, bags, and containers fell on top of him, pinning him down. I am trying not to laugh as I pull him out of the rubble and clear him a place to sit down. This isn't even the first time he has slept in the cart- I believe he did this last time we went to the grocery store- but this time I was lucky enough to have left my camera in my (enormous) purse. Classic!

this is SO classic. If I saw him and you in the store I would decide right then and there that I needed to be friends with you guys. SO cool! It's hilarious.
