Monkey Underpants

I am getting kinda tired of trying to come up with clever ideas for posts, so I have decided I am just going to start writing in here sort of like a journal, since that is the main reason I even have a blog.

This past week was a nice and relaxing one; I went down to Cedar City to hang with my mom while my dad and brother were fishing in Mexico. I always have such a good time when I go visit my mom. Plus, my brother and his family live in Cedar City, too, so that is a total bonus. I swear it feels like a week at the spa when I am at my moms. I love being able to have the extra help with the kids, plus my mom is such a ball to hang with! I got my hair cut while I was down there, I cut off quite a bit of it and I really like it. I am amazed at how curly my hair has gotten after having kids. It used to be stick straight, now it is very curly, especially in the back. It feels good to have that itchy hair off my neck, especially with summer approaching.

The kids are so cute. Drew has now reached the "weird kid" phase, where he thinks of random phrases and silly words and puts them together, repeating the same phrases over and over (since he got such a big laugh the first time, constant repetition is sure to get the same reaction, right? Aargh. He is driving me crazy.) A few of his choice phrases lately are "monkey underpants" and "stupidy-foo." Oh, and I can't forget "gerdy-ferdy." Even though he got in trouble for saying "stupid," apparently it was worth is because he keeps on saying it. It's ok-I was a weird kid, too. It's in his genes. Allie is cute as can be- she is 9 months old now, and is a little late to start crawling, and it is fine by me! I figure the longer she is easy to contain, the better. Once she starts getting around quickly- it's all over with. I am going to have to start babyproofing again pretty soon. Her hair is getting nice and thick- it's a pretty light brown color. I assumed she would be a blonde, like I was, but you just never know. She's a great little baby and I am pretty sure she is going to be a talker. She has started saying mama, dada, and Bubba to us. She is quite vocal, and she will let you know if she needs something. Not by crying, but by yelling. It is hilarious.

Marshall is doing well, he finally got our taxes done (I wanted to do them myself like 6 weeks ago, but when you are married to an accountant, it doesn't make much sense to attempt that on your own- especially when you got C's in math your whole life.) But he spent the better part of the weekend doing them, and it was worth it because this guy really knows his stuff, and was able to find us all sorts of deductions. I am glad there are people in this world that can stand to do that type of stuff- he actually really likes it. His church b-ball team is in the region tournament, which is also really fun for him. They won the first game and their next game is in a few weeks. He was able to hire a new full-time assistant at work and so things there have been less hectic for him these days.

We are loving the nicer weather, I know we're not totally out of the woods yet, and there is a good chance it will snow again. But for now, we are just enjoying the absence of the snow and being able to see our (yellow) grass, and listening for the occasional bird singing. I am also keeping my eyes peeled for signs of my tulips that should be coming up shortly. This summer I will be planting my first ever vegetable garden, which will be fun. I am glad my mom will be around to share her years of gardening experience and to help me get started. That will be an adventure.

I love garden fresh veggies! We have a terrace now, maybe I'll attempt growing tomatoes this summer... or something simple. Are carrots easy too? Yum!

Seems like Jack was 9 months before he could crawl. I remember he sat at 6 months and walked at 13 months... so he had to have crawled sometime between that. All I know now is that there is no stopping him! I can't imagine keeping track of two!

Does she have a different temperment than Drew?

It's hard to tell how much their personalities will be alike. Allie is a really mellow and sweet baby. But, just like her mother, she's not afraid to tell it like it is! Keeping track of two really isn't a big deal; Drew is old enough to play by himself, and help me with Allie, and he tells me when she puts stuff in her mouth that she shouldn't. I think it's more the spacing of the kids than the number you have. They are 2.5 years apart and I wouldn't space them any closer.

Ditto from Melanie - I NEED PICTURES. I want to try tomatoes this year. Just one plant in a bucket. My mother in law says tomatoes are easy, but I haven't the foggiest idea what to do. I should probably start looking into it.

Thanks for blogging. I would prefer daily updates and pictures, though! ;) (This from the girl who only has one kid that can't yet say, "Mommy, come wipe my bum." I just have to do it without being asked.)

And again...pics of the hair cut please.
Interesting posts? Blah. These are the good ones - it's so fun to hear about your cute kids. I won't tell Drew, but my favorite one was "stupidy-foo".
